"Big" doesn't even begin to describe it.

That piece of ice you're looking at in the picture right there, that is a 100-carat, emerald-cut, Internally Flawless diamond. Dubbed "The Ultimate Emerald-Cut Diamond," the gem will be auctioned by Sotheby's New York on April 21, where the auction house estimates it to reach a final bid of up to $25 million.

(By comparison, the average engagement ring center stone is 1 carat, more or less, and the average ring cost around $5,000, more or less.)

The rough diamond originally weighed more than 200 carats before a yearlong refinement to its current size and weight. It will be just the sixth flawless diamond more than 100 carats to be sold at auction.
