Honeymoon Registry? Yes, Please!

Fundraising websites like Honeyfund, Honeymoon Wishes and Wanderable make it easy for couples to turn their dream honeymoon into a reality.

Not sure if a honeymoon registry is right for you?

Here’s are a few factors to consider:

The Pros

Nancy Williams, Director of Business Development for Honeymoon Wishes, says honeymoon registries are on the rise because traditional registries might not be as practical for modern couples.

“Today’s couples are looking for experiences rather than more stuff. This generation grew up online, are getting married later and often already live together or even own homes,” she explains.

For a couple that already has what they need, a honeymoon registry is the perfect solution for receiving the ultimate gift — memories. It’s also a polite way to hint that money is wanted without breaking wedding etiquette.

The Cons

Going on your honeymoon without having to foot the whole bill sounds enticing, but there are some drawbacks.

First, many sites charge a transaction fee. Houseware registries don’t have a fee, so some people feel their money goes further the old fashioned way.

Another downside: honeymoon pre-planning is required to create a registry. So, on top of your other wedding to-dos, you’ll also need to create a detailed vacation itinerary months in advance.

Finally, some guests might just not be on board with your modern honeymoon registry. That doesn’t mean you have to abandon your vacay dreams — you should just be prepared for a little pushback.
