VIDEO: Iowa Couple Weds at 'Baconfest' Event
Tricia Snider dreamed of getting married in a little white chapel in Las Vegas, but a Vegas-themed bacon festival proved just as good.
Snider and her groom, Tom Watson, exchanged vows Feb. 1 at the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in a private ceremony inside the Jacobson Exhibition Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The theme of the 7th annual pork-focused event was "Viva Las Bacon," which was enough to sway Snider's wishes.
"I said, 'Sweet, we love bacon!" the bride told the Des Moines Register. The couple's officiant, bacon enthusiast and TV personality Adam Poch, had his own bacon-themed wedding last year. Poch actually was in the process of applying to become an officiant for a friend's wedding when a Bacon Fest organizer reached out to him about performing Snider and Watson's ceremony.
“When things are meant to be, they just happen,” Poch told the Register.
Another ceremony, bringing together Craig and April Rouch, took place later in the day in the public area of the festival.
