Stephen Colbert Marries Couple Who Had to Postpone Wedding Due to Government Shutdown
As we mentioned, weddings are one of the forgotten victims of the government shutdown, with many scheduled to take place this month on the National Mall being canceled.
One couple, Mike Casseo and MaiLien Le, who planned to wed at the Jefferson Memorial, got help from comedian Stephen Colbert, who married the couple on "The Colbert Report" on Oct. 4.
"I am actually an ordained minister of the American Marriage Ministries," Colbert said, showing off a certificate from the organization.
In addition to the ceremony, "The 2013 Government Shutdown Wedding of the Century" segment featured brief bachelor and bachelorette parties for the bride and groom.
