Our Wedding Announcement

Elizabeth Hall Freeman of Greenville, SC and William Charlton Wieters of Charleston were united in marriage on May 31, 2014, at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston. The Reverend Dr. Daniel W. Massie performed the six o’clock ceremony, and music was provided by organist Jee Yoon Choi and bagpiper Jimmy Ryan. The reception followed at Hibernian Hall.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Moran Freeman III of Greenville, SC. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Moran Freeman Jr. of Greenville, the late Audrey Hall Knoll, also of Greenville, and the late Albert Edward Knoll of Detroit, MI. The bride earned a B.A. from The University of the South (Sewanee) and a Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law. She is an attorney at Hall Booth Smith, P.C. in Charleston.
The groom is the son of William Melton Wieters of Charleston and the late Charlene Smith Wieters. He is the grandson of Wilhelmina Melton Hall and the late Walter Dietrich Wieters Sr. of Charleston, and also Olivette Garr Smith and the late Charles Forster Smith Jr., also of Charleston. The groom earned a B.A. from The University of the South (Sewanee), and then earned his M.B.A. from The Citadel. He is the Finance Officer at Coastal Community Foundation in Charleston.
The bride’s sister, Robin Freeman Henderson, was the matron of honor. The bride’s attendant was the groom’s sister, Ashley Wieters Redmond. Honorary bridesmaids included Dorothy Brooke Beadle, Autumn Parham Callison, Elizabeth Dortch Dalton, Rebecca Ann Daubert, Anne Marie Johnston, Anne Izard Mead, Elizabeth Peterson Paul, Julie Guckenberger Price, Joanna Brooks Stroud, Kate Whetstone Usry, and Amanda Leah Whiteman. Flower girl was Ellen Ashley Redmond.
William Melton Wieters was his son’s best man. The groom’s brother, Forest Smith Wieters, was the groomsman. Ushers included Jonathan Lee Anderson, Peter Horry Brown, William Scott Cogswell Jr., John Lawrence Cotton, Jeffrey Lehman Fitzgerald, James Hunter Flack III, Jackson Michael Gumb, Ashley Richard Haynes, Wade Hampton Logan IV, John Mercier Payne, and Richard Smith Whaley Stoney Jr. Ring bearers were Dewey Cook Henderson and Gaines Freeman Henderson.
Readers were Blayne Jarrett Henderson and Elizabeth Dietrich Parker. Zoe Abigail Henderson and John Andrew Redmond served as greeters.
On Friday, May 30, 2014, a rehearsal party was held on Gold Bug Island in Mt. Pleasant. The couple will honeymoon in St. John, USVI and reside in Charleston.
