Miss Elizabeth Rushton Darling and Mr. William Thomas Barnett III, both of Raleigh, NC, were married on September 13, 2014, at Stella Maris Catholic Church in Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. Monsignor Joseph Francis Hanley, Jr. performed the 2 p.m. ceremony. Music for the ceremony was provided by Jack A. Cleghorn, organist; Asako Kremer, violinist; and Suzanne Messersmith, trumpeter. A reception followed at the Sand Dunes Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Edward Darling of Charleston; and the granddaughter of Mrs. Betty Faris Howell and the late Dr. Roy Allen Howell, Jr. also of Charleston and Mrs. Elizabeth Clarkson Darling and the late Mr. Norman Rushton Darling of Charleston, formerly of Columbia, SC. She is a graduate of Ashley Hall School and earned a BS in Retail Management from the University of South Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Barnett, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; and the grandson of Mr. Hugh Brooks Barwick, Jr. of Clinton, NC and the late Mrs. Rachel Cozart Barwick and Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Barnett of Raleigh. He is a graduate of Needham Broughton High School and received a BA in Political Science with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is employed as an Assistant Director at the NCMS.

A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at the Historic Rice Mill on September 12, 2014. The couple will honeymoon in Aruba and will reside in Raleigh.
