Location of Wedding:

In an afternoon service at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, SC The Reverend Doctor Timothy Dennis officiated at the September 13th marriage ceremony of Miss Sophia Rose Camp of Edisto, SC and Washington, DC and Mr. Alex Justin McCracken, also of the District of Columbia. Mr. McCracken is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Parmer McCracken of St. Louis, MO.
Presbyterian hymnal selections for the ceremony were performed by Mr. James Hyatt, organist. Given in marriage by her father, Jack Camp, the bride was attended by Jeaneane Camp of Atlanta, matron of honor. Ines di Santo designed the bride’s peau de soie sheath gown, with button detail on the train. A circular style woven ribbon veil, fashioned by Toni Federici, accented the ivory gown. The bridal bouquet, by Tiger Lily, highlighted peonies, Queen Anne’s lace, tweedia, fragrant freesia, garden roses and dusty miller. Miss Camp wore the vintage bracelet of her namesake, Sophia Stephens Camp, and carried a handkerchief designed from the wedding gown of Rose Thomas, her maternal grandmother.
Bridesmaids attending Miss Camp were: Jane Spears Anderson of Greenville, SC; Rachel Garrett Bagley of Atlanta; Anna Grace Louise Brooks, Caitlin Suzanne Staples, and Bridie Catherine McCulla, all of Arlington, VA; Jane Lauren Duplantis of Denver, CO; Alexandra Gammans Powers of Carrollton, GA; and Mrs. Kristen Dawn Wilkinson of Nashville, TN. Assisting the bride were her flower girls: Little Misses Lily Burke, Olivia Dougherty, and Savannah Short, all of Arlington, and Miss Camp’s niece, Little Miss Jeaneane Massey Camp of Atlanta.
Mr. Chad Eliot McCracken of Washington, DC served as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Aaron Michael Bolch of Houston, TX; Mr. Harry Camp of Atlanta; Mr. Ace Chao Lin of Shanghai, China; and Mr. Todd Jeremy Warren of McKinney, TX. Masters Jaxon Bentley Bolch and Colton Maddox Bolch served the groom as his ring bearers.
The homily was delivered by Mr. Michael Preston Colby. Upon exiting the service the couple, guests, and the historic Scottish tradition of the Edisto church were celebrated by the bagpipe performance of Rev. Michael A. Scott of Newnan, GA. Following the ceremony the families received the couple’s guests at Cassina Point on Edisto Island. Upon returning from a Caribbean wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. McCracken will reside in Washington, D.C., where Mr. McCracken and his brother own The Wydown Coffee Bar in the U Street Corridor.
Mr. and Mrs. Jon McCracken hosted the rehearsal dinner at Mossy Oaks Farm on Russell Creek on Friday evening. Other pre-wedding parties were hosted by friends and family members on Edisto and in our nation’s capital.
