Christine Hollis Johnston and John Parker Lumpkin, both of Charleston, SC, were married October 11, 2014, at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church in Georgetown, SC. The Very Reverend Paul C. Fuener performed the 5:00 ceremony. A reception followed at Estherville Plantation.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Clebourne Johnston, III of Columbia and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Clebourne Johnston, Jr. of Columbia and the late Lt. Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. William Edgar Gilbert of Jacksonville, FL. A graduate of Hammond School and Wofford College, she is employed by the Peninsula Company, LLC in Charleston.
The groom is the son of Captain USN (Ret.) and Mrs. Rutledge Parker Lumpkin of Georgetown, SC. He is the grandson of Mrs. Sarah Parker Lumpkin and the late Dr. Robert Lucas Lumpkin of Georgetown, SC. He is also the grandson of the late LCDR (Ret.) and Mrs. Roger Alan Nichols of San Diego, California. A graduate of St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, MS and the College of Charleston, he is employed by The Cook and Boardman Group in Charleston.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. Maid of honor was Miss Caroline Elaine Henderson. Bridesmaids were Miss Nora Anne Bennani, Miss Abigail Price Linton, Mrs. Anne Jones Marion, Miss Morgan Taylor Neuhoff, Miss Elizabeth Kincaid Nexsen and Miss Sarah Ivey Nexsen, both cousins of the bride; and Miss Sally Hargrave Roberts. Ceremony music was provided by James E. Calk and The Palmetto Pipes and Drums. After a honeymoon in Belize, the couple will reside in Charleston, SC.
