Kathryn Louise Roberts of Charleston, South Carolina and James Russell Harris of Columbia, South Carolina were joined in marriage on November 1, 2014, by the Reverend Daniel W. Massie. The ceremony was held at half past five o’clock at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Jee Yoon Choi, Director of Music and Senior Organist, and soloist KB Solomon provided music for the service. A reception followed at The Country Club of Charleston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jerry Roberts of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Her grandparents are Mrs. Kathryn Howard Mustine and the late Mr. Charles William Mustine and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Kenneth Roberts, all of Washington Courthouse, Ohio. Kathryn is a graduate of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from Clemson University and a Master of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Julia Ezell Harris and the late Mr. James Douglas Harris of Columbus, Georgia. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Bell Ezell of Phenix City, Alabama and the late Mr. and Mrs. James S. Harris of Anniston, Alabama. He attended St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School in Columbus Georgia. Russell studied at Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. He then graduated from The University of Georgia with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He works for Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic in Columbia, South Carolina.
The bride’s formal gown, from Modern Trousseau, was complimented by her grandmother’s vintage pearls and her mother’s veil. She carried a hand-held Juliet style bouquet consisting of clusters of soft white David Austin roses, porcellena sweetheart roses, cream dahlias, and cymbidium orchids, accented with garden greenery. The bouquet was a gift from the bride’s parents and was designed and arranged by her mother.
Ms. Margaret Anne Roberts, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bride’s attendants were Mary Anne Allen, Mary Hodges Burke, Elizabeth Ann Carter, Anne Farish Cheatham, Bethany Zimmerman Groeber, Julia Allison Harris, Margaret Harper Hearon, and Sarah Elizabeth Miller.
The groom’s grandfather, Mr. Eddie Bell Ezell, stood as best man. Groomsmen included Christopher Lee Boguski, Brenton Edward Gwinn, Taylor Ellis Hays, Abbett Goode Hudson, Madison Eston Marchant, Judson Tyler Roberts, Thomas O’Brien Smith, Junior, and John Michael Wrenn, Junior.
Elizabeth Hicklin Land was the reader. Greeters were Amy Caroline McLeod, Paige Hymson Brown,Paige Gibson Jones, and Rebecca Reed Faulk.
The groom’s mother, Julie Harris, hosted a rehearsal dinner at McCrady’s on October 31, 2014. There was a welcome party immediately following at McCrady’s, hosted by the groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezell.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Columbia, South Carolina.
