Ann Tipton Lesslie of Columbia, SC and Raleigh Kent Francis of Memphis, TN were married Friday, June 5, 2015, at Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Sullivan’s Island, SC. The 6:30 pm ceremony was performed by the Reverend Dr. Vance Ernest Polley. The Reverend John Forrester DeBuys, III, uncle of the groom, of Birmingham, AL, assisted. A reception followed at the Sand Dunes Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Herman Lesslie, Jr. of Columbia, SC. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Herman Lesslie, Sr. of Columbia SC, and Polly Dickens Wurthmann and the late Mr. Bertram Anthony Wurthmann, Sr. of Sullivan’s Island, SC. She is a graduate of A.C. Flora High School and Furman University, graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science and French. She graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in May. She will join Baker Donelson, PC in Memphis, TN in the fall.
Mr. Francis is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Francis, III of Memphis, TN. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Francis, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Dr. Raleigh Barbee Kent, Jr. and the late Lysbeth Hawkins Kent of Birmingham, AL. He is a graduate of Memphis University School and Furman University where he received a B.A. in History. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law with high honors in May. He will join Wiseman Ashworth, PLC in Memphis, TN in the fall.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Maid of honor was Virginia Walker Lesslie, sister of the bride, of Columbia, SC. Bridesmaids were Amanda Dickens Culler, cousin of the bride, of Sullivan’s Island, SC; Margaret Louise Flatt of Columbia, SC; Natalie Duke Francis, sister-in-law of the groom, and Kelly Hollingsworth Turner, cousin of the groom, both of Memphis, TN; Claire Suzanne Henry of Nashville, TN; Hali Anne Hill and Chelsey McDade Lewis, both of Atlanta, GA; and Maret Lee Maliniak of Memphis, TN. The program attendants were Miss Madeline Lysbeth DeBuys and Miss Isabelle Virginia DeBuys, cousins of the groom, of Birmingham, AL. Mr. and Mrs. James Preston Thomas served as greeters.
The groom’s father, Dr. Hugh Francis, III, served as best man. Groomsmen were Hugh Francis IV, and John Edward Francis, brothers of the groom, of Memphis, TN; Jeffrey Davies Broad of Pittsburgh, PA; Walker Williams Kinney of La Grange, TN; Scott Hotchkiss McClintock of Jackson, MS; Stuart Latham McClure of Memphis, TN; Alex Jonathan Porter of Nashville, TN; and Robert Douglas Seip II, of Montgomery, AL.
After the bar exam in July and honeymoon in August, the couple will reside in Memphis.
