Courtney Leigh Cockfield and Todd Burkett Avant, both of Columbia, SC, were married at a courtyard ceremony at the Confederate Home in Charleston, SC on June 6, 2015. Reverend Craig Bailey performed the six o’clock ceremony, and music was provided by the Signature Players string duo. The reception followed at The Country Club of Charleston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walter Cockfield Jr. of Hemingway, SC. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walter Cockfield and Mr. Robert Calvin Cantey Jr., all of Hemingway, SC, and Mrs. Juanita McCracken Cantey of Charleston, SC. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Courtney is the Director of Marketing at HDR-ICA.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Daniel Avant of Wadmalaw Island, SC. He is the grandson of Mr. Deva Leslie McCarter and the late Mrs. Shirley Inman McCarter of Florence, SC, the late Mr. William Thomas Avant of Macon, GA, and the late Mrs. Martha Burkett Avant of Columbia, SC. Todd graduated from Wofford College, and he is the CEO of NAI Avant.
The bride wore a Tara Keely Sherbet tulle bridal ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and an Alencon lace off-the-shoulder overlay and three-quarter length sleeves with horse hair hem detail. The gown was accented with a blush ribbon belt at the natural waist and a chapel length train. Katie Tribble served as matron of honor. Maids of honor were Caroline Cockfield and Kelsie Blalock. Bridesmaids were Jackie Bryant, Stewart Harrelson, Markey Haselden, Anna Logan Hooks, and Savannah Rogers. The couple’s dog Scarlett was the flower girl.
Dan Avant served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Kevin Avant, Bobby Cummings, Preston Grisham, Todd Greenway, Bruce Harper, Patrick McKain, Brodie McKoy, Les Perry, Trey Price, Edmund Richmond, Reeves Skeen, Scott Taylor, and Tripp Whitener.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal party at their home on Wadmalaw Island. After a wedding trip to Spain and Greece, Mr. and Mrs. Avant will make their home in Columbia, SC.
