Sarah Lawrence Jones of Charleston, SC and William Hewitt Cox, III of Kingstree, SC were married on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Saint Mary of the Annunciation in Charleston. The Deacon Jerome Remkiewicz performed the ceremony. A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fortune Jones of Charleston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Corbett Sampson Osborne of Conway, SC and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Capers Jones of Charleston.
The bride graduated from Porter-Gaud School and earned a BA from Loyola University Chicago and an MA from The Citadel. In the fall she will begin teaching at Hopkins Middle School in Hopkins, SC.
The groom is the son of the late Mr. William Hewitt Cox, Jr. and Mrs. Sara Jennings Cox of Kingstree. He is the grandson of the late Mr. William Hewitt Cox of Pawleys Island, SC and Mrs. Jennie Burgess Cox of Kingstree, and the late Dr. Thomas Jefferson Bell, Jr. and Mrs. Barbara Mengedoht Bell of Columbia, SC.
The groom graduated from Williamsburg Academy and earned a BS from Clemson University and a J.D. from University of South Carolina. He is employed by the Richland County Public Defender’s Office.
Rebecca Fortune Jones Hancock and Elizabeth Jones Fox were matrons of honor, and Caroline Cordes Simpson and Jennings Burgess Cox were bridesmaids. The best man was Drennan Lee Josey, and the groomsmen were Nicholas Victor Kliossis, Willis Gilbert Bailey, Jr., and Maximilian Martucelli.
A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s mother aboard the Carolina Belle. After a honeymoon trip to Bermuda, the couple will reside in Columbia.
