Shayla Elyse Platts and Willis Glover Jr., both of North Charleston, SC, were married at Mt.Olive Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston on July 11, 2015. The Reverend Dr. Clary Samuels performed the 3:30pm ceremony. Elder Nathan Hooper, Leroy Garner, and Gerald Williams provided music for the service. A reception followed at Town and Country Inn and Suites.
The bride is the daughter of Deacon James L. Platts Sr. and Reverend Virginia Platts of North Charleston, SC. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Garner of North Charleston and the late Mrs. Mamie Platts. Shayla is a graduate of Ferndale High School, Converse College, and Trident Technical College. She is a Medical Lab Technician at Summerville Medical Center.
The groom is the son of Reverend Dr. Willis Glover Sr. and Minister Cheryl Glover of Hanahan, SC. He is the grandson of Mrs. Louise Williams of Beaufort, SC and Mrs. Lillie Johnson of Charleston, SC. Willis graduated from Stratford High School and Beta Technical College. He works as a bulk driver for Pepsico.
The bride’s sister, Shannon Lance, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Darcel Glover, Kimberly Smith, and Jacqueline Lewis. Flower girls were Jaiden Platts, Shakina Porter, Leah Riley, and the bell ringer was Nialah Platts.
Jevor Glover, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen included Aldric Morton, Daniel Platts, and Travis Bonaparte. James Platts, lll was the ring bearer.
The rehearsal dinner was held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church on July 10, 2015. After a wedding trip to Orlando, FL the couple will make their home in North Charleston, SC.
