Amy Jean Leatherman and Merritt Utsey Smith, both of Charleston, SC, were married on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC. The 6:00 pm ceremony was performed by the Reverend Jimmie Elsma Harley. A reception followed at Hibernian Hall.
The bride is the daughter of The Honorable & Mrs. Hugh Kenneth Leatherman of Florence, SC. Amy is a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, and MUSC in Charleston, SC. She is currently employed as a CRNA at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Monte Earl McQuillan of Summerville, SC, and the late Mr. William Utsey Smith of Charleston, SC. He is the grandson of the late Brigadier General & Mrs. Ben Lewis Rushing of Charleston, SC. Merritt is a graduate of Clemson University in Clemson, SC, and is employed with Hertz Corporation in Charleston, SC.
Dr. Sarah Leatherman Allen, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amanda Odom Parker, Mrs. Mason Ballenger Chase and Mrs. Alicia Smith McCory. Flower girls were Miss Ada Cathryn Allen, Miss McCauley Miller Allen, Miss Sarah Louise Allen, Miss Elle Harley McCory and Miss Aubrey Lyla McCory.
Groomsmen were Mr. Joshua Chase Scott, Mr. Andrew Byron Green, Mr. Richard McKelvie King and Mr. Eric Christopher Ford. Ring Bearer was Mr. Sebastian Dordt Szalay. Ushers were Mr. Jackson H. Daniel and Mr. Robert Laverne Infinger, Jr. Reader was Dr. Hugh Kenneth Leatherman, Jr.
Organist was Mr. Greg Jones of Charleston, SC. Vocalist was Mrs. Kathleen Infinger Szalay of Bonn, Germany.
After a honeymoon, the couple will reside in Charleston, SC.
