Location of Wedding:

Sara Catherine Andreatta and Edward Barnwell Grimball, junior, both of Charleston, SC, were married on Saturday, October 3, 2015, in the midst of the 1,000-year flood. Due to the closing of the Charleston peninsula, the ceremony and reception, planned for St. Michael’s Church and the Carolina Yacht Club, were held in a rental home on Folly Beach. The bride’s father, the Rev. Ronald Wayne Andreatta, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Susan Louft Andreatta of High Point, NC and Mr. Andreatta of Ely, Iowa. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Reuben Richard Louft of Charleston, WV, and Mr. James Henry Andreatta and the late Mrs. Evelyn Andreatta of Annapolis, MD. Sara is a graduate of The University of the South, Sewanee, and is captain of the Schooner Pride.
The groom is the son of Ms. Mary Postell Weston of Columbia, SC and Mr. Edward Barnwell Grimball of Pawleys Island, SC and Blue Hill, ME. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Christian Tucker Weston of Columbia, SC and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Berkley Grimball of Fort Mill, SC. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Barnwell is the business manager for J|Geiger.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother. Miss Corissa Joy Currier was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Sara Elizabeth Giles, Miss Jennifer Daisy Smith, and Miss Erin Dorian Hoskins, who was unable to attend due to road closures. Mr. William Franklin Badger was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Bruce McIssac Coleman, Mr. Campbell Tanner Coleman, and Mr. Roy Walter Smith, cousin of the groom. Readers were Mrs. Nancy Andreatta Lim and Mrs. Anne Donehue Hall.
The bride wore an Alencon lace veil previously worn by the groom’s mother, aunt, and others in attendance. Music was provided by Mr. Charles Andreatta, uncle of the bride, on his banjo, and Mrs. Darlene Andreatta, wife of the bride’s father, on a borrowed keyboard. A buffet dinner was lovingly prepared by Dr. and Mrs. William Cain, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elford Carpenter, junior, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dorrah Foster, friends of the groom’s family from Columbia. The homemade wedding cakes and homegrown flowers were retrieved from the flooded Carolina Yacht Club by the groom’s father. Although most of the wedding guests were stranded in their homes, in Charleston hotels, or chose to evacuate the area, the bride and groom were astonished by and grateful for the determination of those guests who braved the rising water to witness and celebrate their marriage.
The couple will honeymoon in the British Virgin Islands in January and reside in Charleston.
