Melanie Opal Westbrook of Summerville, SC and Robert McMillian Kennedy Doty of Columbia, SC were married on April 16, 2016 at Wingate Plantation on John’s Island, SC. Dr. Donald Tate Siebert performed the 6:30pm ceremony and music was provided by Preston Cate. A reception followed.
The bride is the daughter of Deborah Neal and Jackie Westbrook both of Summerville, SC. She is the granddaughter of Horace and Opal Howard and James and Hazel Westbrook all of Summerville, SC. Melanie received a Bachelor’s degree from The College of Charleston and is employed as a teacher at Taylor’s Elementary School in Greenville, SC
The bridegroom is the son of Annette Siebert of Columbia, SC and Gordon Doty of Winnsboro, SC. He is the grandson of Robert and Julian Kennedy of Columbia, SC and Barkley and Elizabeth Doty of Winnsboro, SC. Robert received a Bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and a Master’s degree from USC’s Darla Moore School of Business. He is a teacher and coach at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC.
The bride was given away in marriage by her father. Maid of Honor was Mary Agnew and bridesmaids were Danielle Gardner, Heather Ebernickle, Kelli Dawkins, Michelle Hyman, Neely Westbrook, Bonni Agnew, Jessica Johnson, and Catherine Rada.
Best man was brother of the groom, Logan Doty and Groomsmen were Rob Anderson, Clay O’Gwin, Lee Zimmerman, Baxter Lee, Eric Westbrook, Brantley Westbrook, Clayton Kennedy, and Marshall Murphy.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s family was held at Bowen’s Island, Folly Beach, SC.
The couple will honeymoon in the Pacific Northwest.
