Caroline McNair Rhodes and Christopher Lee Somheil

Caroline McNair Rhodes of Charleston, SC and Christopher Lee Somheil, Jr. of Sumter, SC were joined in marriage on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Phillip’s Church in Historic Charleston, SC. The Rev. Brian Kenneth McGreevy, J.D. performed the 5:30 pm ceremony. Music was provided by The Charleston Virtuosi, the St. David Choir of St. Phillip’s Church, and Mr. Capers Cross, organist and choirmaster. A reception followed at Lowndes Grove Plantation.
The bride is the daughter of Doctor and Mrs. Malcolm McLeod Rhodes of Charleston, SC. She is the granddaughter of Doctor and Mrs. Jack Wylan Rhodes of Charleston, SC, Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Parker of Columbia, SC and Mr. and Mrs. George Flanders Cummings of Winter Haven, FL. McNair is a graduate of Ashley Hall School and on August 5, 2016 she will be a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Social Services Emphasis.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Lee Somheil, Sr. of Sumter, SC. He is the grandson of Mrs. Caroline Earnhardt Somheil , the late Mr. Ralph Arnold Somheil and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Mack Cubbage, Sr. all of Sumter, SC. Christopher is a graduate of The Citadel with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is employed with Carlson Environmental Consultants in Monroe, NC.
An alençon lace Monique Lhuillier ball gown was worn by the bride complete with buttons extending down the train and a hand made three quarter sleeve lace overlay. The ensemble was finished with a alençon lace cathedral length veil.
Miss. Margaret McLeod Rhodes, sister of the bride, was the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Katherine Helen Dantzler, Miss Eliza Berkeley Grimball, Miss Harriet Patience Grimball, Miss Margaret Mishoe Jonte, Miss Wiley Jordan Marshall, and Miss Mary Margaret Somheil, sister of the groom.
Christopher Lee Somheil, Sr., father of the groom, was the Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. John Edward Holliday, Mr. Everett McNeill Holloway, Mr. William Ansel Owens, Mr. John Michael Phillips, Mr. Evan Campbell Prothro, Mr. William Evan Reynolds and Mr. William Garrett Swann.
Guests were greeted by Miss Derrill Taber Hagood, Miss Mariana Ramsay Hay, Miss Dorothy Adair Kerrison, Miss Louisa Elizabeth Phillips, Miss Marian Elizabeth Proctor, and Miss Katherine Brett Van Dorsten. They were then ushered in by Mr. Cody Drayton Ahl, Mr. Matthew David Haan, Mr. Robert Charles James, Mr. William McLeod Rhodes, Jr., and Mr. Henry Turner Adair Smith. Ceremony Readers were Mr. Robert Charles James and Miss Morgan Elizabeth Greene.
A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents and held at The Cooper River Room on July 8, 2016.
The couple will honeymoon in Jamaica and will reside in Charlotte, NC.
