Elizabeth Robertson Waggoner of Charleston, SC and Marcel Markus Benedix of Kallstadt, Germany were married on August 6, 2016. The Reverend Danny Reed officiated the 5:00 pm ceremony at The Unitarian Church in Charleston. Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Murray Sommerville. A reception followed at Gage Hall.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tyre H. Moore, Sr. of Charleston, SC and Mr. Geoffrey H. Waggoner of Mount Pleasant, SC. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Zebulon V. Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Waggoner of Pittsboro, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Rollins College, and holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel Graduate College. Liz was most recently employed as lead therapist at Whetstone Academy in Mountain Rest, South Carolina, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. She wore a beaded empire gown with tulle cap sleeves, and her mother’s Alençon lace edged veil.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steffen Benedix, and Ms. Silke Benedix and Mr. Levent Kömürcü, all of Worms, Germany. He is the grandson of Ms. Gisela Teufert of Kallstadt, Germany, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Benedix of Frankenthal, Germany. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in International Management from the University of Applied Sciences in Worms, Germany, and is a candidate for the Master of Arts in International Business Administration and Foreign Trade. He is completing his thesis requirements. Marcel was most recently employed as an international human resources co-op for BorgWarner Turbo Systems Worldwide Headquarters GmbH.
The maid of honor was Erin Dickman. The bride’s attendants were Rebecca Rittenberg, Katherine Waggoner, and Amelia Waggoner. Leonie Benedix, the groom’s little sister, was flower girl.
The best man and ring bearer was the groom’s father, Steffen Benedix. The groomsmen were Markus Heberle, Matthias Schall, and Tyre H. Moore, Jr.
Following time spent with family and friends from abroad, the couple will reside in Charleston, SC.
