Henslee Rutledge Evans and Van Bowling Elliott III, both of Charleston, SC, were joined in marriage on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The 5 PM ceremony was held at The Lake House at Bulow Landing in Johns Island, SC and was officiated by The Reverend Jessie S. Jackson. Music for the ceremony was provided by Eric and Andrea Antepenko. A reception followed at The Lake House at Bulow Landing.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Lydia Lloyd Evans of Charleston, SC and Mr. Allen Donald Evans of Lexington, NC. Henslee is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Margorie Rivers Evans Osborn of Mt Pleasant, SC, the late Mr. Milton Coakey Evans of Summerville, SC, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Herbert Lloyd of Charleston, SC and Atlanta, GA. The bride holds a degree from Sweet Briar College and is employed by the Ashley Hall School as a teacher.
The groom is the son of the late Mrs. Phoebe Clamp Elliott of Ware Shoals, SC and the late Dr. Van Bowling Elliott, Jr. of Abbeville, SC. Van holds a degree from the College of Charleston and is a self-employed graphic artist.
The bride wore a dress designed by Catherine Deane, along with an heirloom veil edged in Alencon lace.
Accompanying the bride were Courtney Loving Sames and Rebekah Wilder Drysdale as maids of honor, and bride’s attendants were Kristin Palbicke Garces, Jessie Detterline Rodwell, Mia Elizabeth Smith and Sarah White Evans. Flower girls were Margorie Ann Winifred Evans, niece of the bride, and Hazel Sophia Smith. Keith Bryan Bowen was the best man and groomsmen were Bruce Wayne Washington, Douglas Tyree Tinsley Glenn, Maria Leticia Guest, Kevin Connaughton, James Baker Elliott and Gentry Kelly. Harvey Crenshaw served as the ring bearer.
A rehearsal dinner was given by Andrea Hilsman Glenn, sister of the groom, and T.J. Ryan III at the Carolina Yacht Club.
The couple honeymooned in Belize and resides in Charleston.
