Caroline Elizabeth Coleman Short of Charleston, South Carolina and Thomas Edgar Hawkins of Alexandria, Virginia were married on October 7th, 2017. The 6:00 pm ceremony was held at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina and was officiated by The Reverend Dr. James T. Rogers. A reception followed at the bride’s family home.
     The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lebby Clement III of Charleston, South Carolina and the late Mr. George Oscar Short III of Greenville, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Helen Lewis Clement and the late Mr. Robert Lebby Clement, junior of Charleston, South Carolina, the late Mr. and Mrs. James Woodrow Sharpe of Columbia, South Carolina, and Mr. George Oscar Short, junior and the late Mrs. Jacqueline Horne Short of Greenville, South Carolina. Coleman holds an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and is employed by Hanover Research as a Managing Director of Business Intelligence.
     The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Val Parham Hawkins, senior of Alexandria, Virginia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Washington Fox III of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Marvin Hawkins, junior of Rochester, New York. Thomas holds an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College and is currently working on his master’s degree at Georgetown University. He is employed by UIP General Contracting as a Project Manager.                 
     Accompanying the bride were Miss Helen Lebby Clement, maid of honor, and the bride’s attendants were Eleanor Hawkins Maguire, Sophie Brown Hawkins, Margaret Torrey Crawford, Molly Virginia Hamrick, Louisa Waring Gilliatt, Beth Darling Barnett, Katherine Flint Knowlton, Deborah Kamis O’Farrell, Mary Clare Stein, and Emily Milligan Donovan. Genevieve Elizabeth Hawkins, Eleanor Louise Hawkins, Olivia Katharine Maguire, and Maeve Valandigham Maguire were junior bridesmaids. Legare Rhett Boulware and Kathleen Hay Hagood were greeters.
    Val Parham Hawkins, junior, brother of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were William Patterson Maguire III, George Oscar Short IV, Robert Lebby Clement IV, Christopher William Maser, Michael Crawford Fox, junior, Brian Matthew Fox, Alexander Ellis Matthews, Connor Patrick Donovan, Troy James Backus, and Eric Nathaniel Woody. Ushers were David Westbrook Page, Timothy Richard Shadyac, Blair Christian Paton, and Eric Winslow Bolton. William Patterson Maguire IV was the ring bearer.   
    A rehearsal dinner was held by the groom’s parents at Cannon Green on October 6th. The couple will honeymoon in Paris, France and reside in Washington, D.C.
