Sarah Crosby Creel and Donald K. “Deke” Clinger, both of San Diego, California, were united in marriage August 29, 2017, at the bougainvillea arbor on San Diego Bay by the Justice of the Peace in the company of close friends. The couple hosted a dinner at their San Diego home for family and friends on September 16, 2017.    
The bride is the daughter of Michael A. and Dena Creel of Lexington, SC. She is the granddaughter of the late Clyde and Lois Rish Crosby of Lexington, South Carolina and the late L.E. and Laura Allen Creel of Hemingway, South Carolina. She earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and music from the University of South Carolina and a master’s and doctorate degrees in brain and cognitive sciences from the University of Rochester. She is a tenured professor in Cognitive Science at the University of California - San Diego.
       The groom is the son of Sheila Kennard Clinger of San Diego and the late Donald Kurtz Clinger of Topeka, Kansas. He is the grandson of the late Frank Fernley Clinger and Grace Huntsberger Clinger of Topeka, Kansas and the late George Brown Kennard and Winnie Phillips Kennard, both of Anderson, Texas. He earned bachelor’s degrees in English, Economics and Finance from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and is employed as a IT Engineer -Principal for Qualcomm in San Diego.
