Andrew Roscoe Mather and Hannah Lea Purcell

Dr. Hannah Lea Purcell and Dr. Andrew Roscoe Mather were united in marriage at 5pm, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Augusta, GA, with Reverends Phillip Howle and David Hunter officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradford Purcell of Edgefield, SC. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Terrell Miller Sr. of Edgefield, SC, Ms. Carolyn Crumbley Patten of Albany, GA, and the late Mr. Robert Joseph Purcell of Atlanta, GA. Hannah is a 2011 graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a 2015 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. She is currently completing her residency in anesthesiology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Carmella Blair Swanson and Dr. Thomas Roscoe Mather, both of Charleston, SC. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Alexander Blair and the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles Roscoe Mather, all of West Lafayette, IN. Andrew is a 2009 graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a 2012 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, and a 2016 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He is currently completing his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
Given in marriage by her father, Hannah chose her sister, Lauren Purcell Sutton of North Augusta, SC, as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lindsey Terry Bethune of Edgefield, SC, Meredith Fox Dunn of San Francisco, CA, Beverly Hammond Duvall of Greenville, SC, Nicole Allen Gilliam of Edgefield, SC, Jamie Grigg Manning of Washington, DC, Anna Post Mickleberry of Greensboro, NC, and Kristin Elizabeth Strickland of Charleston, SC, all friends of the bride. Flower girls were Emmerson Claira Sutton of North Augusta, SC, niece of the bride, and Ellory Pringle Locklear of Charleston, SC, niece of the groom.
Andrew chose his brother, Wesley Alexander Mather of Boston, MA, as his best man. Groomsmen were Layne Alden Mather of Atlanta, GA, brother of the groom; Michael Coleman Clayton of Atlanta, GA, Thomas Heinrich Ewers of Richmond, VA, Allen Jones Jamerson of Washington, DC, Robert Clark Keith of Washington, DC, Robert Cameron McNaughton of Atlanta, GA, and Charles Nelson IV of Louisville, KY, all friends of the groom.
Scriptures were read by Anne Jervey Rhett of Charleston, SC, friend of the groom, and Louis Joseph Sutton, junior of North Augusta, SC, brother-in-law of the bride.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Old Medical College in Augusta. The newlyweds honeymooned in Antigua the week after the wedding.
