Melody Boyce Weinstein of Atlanta, GA and Michael Sam Shemtov of Charleston, SC were married on April 28, 2013, at the HIGH Museum of Art in Atlanta. Rabbi Joshua Heller of Congregation B’nai Torah performed the ceremony. Bobby and Misti Yang provided music for the service. A reception immediately followed in the Renzo Piano designed wing of the HIGH Museum. The wedding coincided with a special exhibit at the museum entitled “Frida & Diego”, which was opened for a private viewing by the guests. The event was catered by Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene and Holman and Finch Public House.
The bride is the Director of Brand Innovation for Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned a BA from The University of Chicago and received her Masters from NYU. She is also a documentary filmmaker and the founder of Melofilms, LLC, a film production company. Melody wore a Carolina Herrera wedding gown inspired by the author Virginia Woolfe. She is the daughter of Marc “Banks” Weinstein of Fairburn, GA and Vallery Weinstein of Newnan, GA. The bride’s father is the founder and Chief Executive Guru for Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, which was started in 1974 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The groom is the owner and proprietor of Butcher & Bee and co-owner of three Mellow Mushroom Pizza restaurants in the Charleston area. He earned a BA from the College of Charleston. He is the son of Sharon Shemtov of Norcross, GA and the late Moshe Shemtov (z”l). The groom’s father was an Iraqi born Israeli and an entrepreneur. His mother is the owner of FLAG North America, a company founded in conjunction with Moshe, that is a distributor of diesel parts.
Rory Moon served as man of honor. Bride’s attendants were Sarah Jacob, Raquel Hecker, Laura Stone, Elodie Guez, Regina Kim, Ida Elisha, and Christy Weinstein. Flower girl was Anna Hall, niece of the bride.
Johnny “Mushroom” Hudgins was best man. Groomsmen were Tomer Oliel, Joshua Broome, Andrew Cebulka, David Brown, Ilan Elisha, and Josh Weinstein. Ring bearer was Nathaniel “Buster” Weinstein, nephew of the bride.
A rehearsal dinner was given by Sharon Shemtov, mother of the groom, at the Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta.
The couple honeymooned in Bali, Indonesia and Israel, and they now reside in Charleston.
